Which F&B platforms were the hardest to scrape in 2025

Hi it's Wassim Berro from Burger Index,
On this week’s BI Insights we rank the hardest F&B platforms to scrape in 2025.
Online data has become the most actionable signal in F&B revealing what’s live, changing and actually working across platforms. This data increasingly drives decisions across aggregators, brands and restaurants.
Every year our data mining team ranks F&B platforms by scraping difficulty, uptime consistency and resilience to automated extraction. The ranking is based on Burger Index’s internal analysis of 192 platforms scraped daily across 29 countries, evaluated continuously across websites and applications.

Asian platforms dominate the top of the 2025 ranking. While geography plays a role, the real driver is focus. A large number of the platforms at the top operate in just 1–5 markets, making it significantly easier to aggressively control access and block automated extraction.
These platforms are also overwhelmingly app-first and often app-only. That dramatically raises the technical bar compared to web-centric platforms.
In contrast, global players must balance security with uptime and partner access across dozens of markets which naturally increases surface area for automation.
The takeaway isn’t that scraping is getting harder, it’s that no one actually wants to scrape. F&B teams want answers. Yet most are forced to run scraping tools, enrichment pipelines, blocked crawlers, and endless validation just to get basic visibility. Burger Index replaces that entire stack with structured growth intelligence so teams spend more time making decisions, not fixing data.
